Up Gaspe (Feb 11-17, 2007) Prev Next Slideshow

The second year for Gaspe and I'm still not impressed by the trails. The scenery, etc, are great, but there are too few trials for such a large area. This year with the lack of snow in Quebec and the US, Gaspe traffic was heavy and trails were hit or miss. Chic-chocs and Murdochville south were poor and logged. 597 south to the orange trail and the orange trail were the best. Even last years favorite, 587 had a fair amount of loggin activity. A foot plus of snow on wednesday, plus very high winds, resulted in large drift and difficult conditions, especially with an apex and mach-z. This led to thr frequent use of the rarely used trail 132...always well groomed. We had five on this trip, John, Tom, Marty, Brad, and I. John and Brad had sled problems the first few days, and Tom almost had his Denali ripped off from Levesque. Marty had his usual offs, and Tom went off a mountain that took 3 guys 2.5 hours to get out.
